Lily Pad on the Ocmulgee

We took Lily on the river today for her first kayak trip.  We had no idea what to expect and we were surprised at how she behaved.  She was very excited looking at the water while we prepared.

"Can we go?  Can we go?"

I carefully packed my iphone in a ziplock bag that I kept in the dry box, so most of the pictures I got were fuzzy from the bag to be safe.  Lily did not like that Clay and I were in separate boats, she whined every time the boats would get more than a few feet apart.  Then she would dive in start swimming to the other boat.  She LOVED swimming!  She loved it so much that sometimes she would dive into the water and swim ahead of the boats just swimming and swimming.

We had decided to run a section of the Ocmulgee that we had already kayaked so we knew what to expect.  Killer went with us last October on this same stretch.  We put in at Hwy 83 and took out at Juliette Dam.  The river was really high today after a week of on/off rain and rain last night too.  The height listed at Dames Ferry was 5.7ft and the cubic ft/second was up to about 6,000.   Lily did escape one time conveniently onto the island we are planning on camping on soon.  She got tangled in some thorns but I got her loose and off the island and back in the boat, much to her chagrin.

Lily finally settled down in Clay's boat on the last 3/4 mile or so of the total 4.2 mile stretch.  Prior to this calmness the only time she sat still is when I had a slim Jim and pack of peanuts open and she sat in front of me on the boat staring me down.

I have been attempting to switch over to a dayshift schedule since Thursday morning when I got off work, it must be working pretty well because I crashed at 9:30 last night and woke up promptly at 5 this morning.  Lily and I went for a jog early this morning and as usual we were confronted with the guinea hens down the road and Lily tucked tail and tried to pretend she didn't notice them.  We went to Byron today to pick up bees.  We came home on Hwy 42 to see what the drive was like.  There is pretty countryside between here and there.  It is a dreary day and we took our time and drove by some interesting buildings in Roberta and Musella.  Now we are waiting for the weather to clear up a little before we move the bees into their hive.  They are currently buzzing away on the table.

Puppy Shenanigans

Killer and Lily roughhousing.
They are ready to go.  Killer got herself all wiggled down behind the luggage so she could sit up straight.  They were not happy when we only went about 5 miles and dropped them off at the Vet.  Lily got spayed while we were gone.  Clay had his conference in Hiawassee and the cabin wasn't pet friendly.
Lily has decided she loves the bathtub.  She gets in now whenever we go in the bathroom and looks all expectant...like "hey! where is the water?"  Luckily she hasn't figured out how to turn on the water but I am sure that is coming.

She loves to keep her toenails clean.
After it rained last week, Lily dug a hole in the clay in the yard then hopped into bed and on me in the bed.  These are the days that Lily gets called "red devil" instead of Lily.
If my frisbee throwing skills would improve, I think that she could catch it already.  She does still fetch it though.
She is growing so fast, she is a little over 30lbs now.  Also, she is getting too big for the dog door so we are going to have to put in a larger one.
It was so cold one day recently and Lily was shivering a little so I put on one of Chico's old sweatshirts. She was not sure about it.
Sometimes, Lily has run around enough and decides to lay down and sleep right next to you on your pillow, sometimes she wants to dog-hug you while doing this.
Other times she chills out with Clay and watches television.

Weekend Shenanigans

We had a full weekend: Eric came up Friday night, mom came up Saturday, and Sarah and Drew came up Sunday.  Eric, Clay, and I took Lily to the Towaliga River right up the road on Saturday.  It was her first time at the river.  The weather was warm but the water was still cold but she hopped right in after sticks.  She seemed to have a great time!  Eric and I both ended up in the mud.  There was some slippery mud hiding under leaves and he slipped and landed on his butt and I slipped and landed chest first ( which is why my white zip up in brown).  Clay and Lily laughed at us.

On Saturday night we went to Hampton and Clay and Eric went to the Jailhouse Brewery.  Mom and I looked around the town and took a few pictures.  We stopped in the bookstore there and had a nice chat with the owner.  When Clay and Eric were done left there and went to Morrow to VN Pho for some food and avocado milkshakes while being serenaded in the car by Clay.

Mom and I got up Sunday and went to work-out with Joey.  We did a tough ab workout and I took Lily for a 2 mile run when we got home.  Clay made some delicious food for a late lunch and he and Eric watched the Falcons.  Sarah and Drew got here later (she is staying here for photography classes in Atlanta).  It was GREAT to see her and Drew.  I got up this morning with them and had breakfast and coffee before they headed out.  It is just 0730 and I have already been up 3 hours, I am alone with the dogs now just chilling with my coffee and the fireplace since Georgia decided to give us a little wintry weather for a day or two.

Gray Hiking Day

Lily was a crazy vizsla last night, so today we went on a longer hike 4.5miles.  We trekked up the road here and went down one of the logging roads and into the woods a little.  She really enjoyed this.  There is this beautiful area there that mom and I found last year where there are all these giant rocks covered in moss.  We sat there for a while and Lily ran around on the long leash.  She even played Frisbee for the first time.

Lily had a good time today.  When we got home we played a little more Frisbee in the back yard and when we came inside she went right into her house.  She is still knocked out now 4 hours later.
Tired Lily = well behaved Lily.

More pictures and a video of our little LilyShe met Mr. Whiskers and Alvin.  She played in the leaves in the backyard, chewed on some sticks and weeds.

I have been taking lots of pictures of her so she will get used to the camera and not be afraid of it like Killer is.  As you can see from the picture above, I don't think that will be a problem.

I LOVE this wrinkled face above!  She plays hard and then she crashes.  She and Killer are figuring out things little by little.  She has a blast with all her toys.  She has been sleeping well during the night too only getting up a time or two.  We weighed her today - 7lbs- that will not last long!
