Bekie's Baby Shower

All the girls at work pitched in and threw Bekie a baby shower.  We had pizza and ice cream cake.  Bekie was truly surprised and I think she enjoyed it.  When I took the pictures everyone split and ducked out of the way.

Bekie said she liked the onsies I embroidered for her.  Yay!

Meet the Vet

Lily had her first check-up at the Vet yesterday.  She is so friendly and was excited about meeting all the new people.   She did well with her shot and even gave Dr. Caldwell ear kisses when he cut her toenails.  She has gained about 1.5lbs since we got her 2 weeks agoHe said everything looks good.  She has an itty bitty umbilical hernia which we are just going to watch, potentially he will fix it when we get her spayed but it may not even need to be fixed.
I talked with the trainer while we were there and she recommended that we wait until the next class starts in 3 weeks to get a little more age on her.  She is doing better on a leash and knows "suppertime" now.  Which means to go in her crate to eat.  She also is starting to recognize sit although she isn't consistent with that one.

Later on when we got home she passed out and I couldn't resist this one of her with her tongue hanging out.

I finished 3 onsies this weekend for my 2 friends that are having girl babies in December.  I haven't embroidered in forever and it was really enjoyable to do while we were hanging out and watching tv.

I was out of work Thursday and Friday due to a pinched nerve in my neck and I was supposed to be taking it easy.  This was a nice way to keep myself busy while still taking it easy.

I really like the way they all turned out.  I need to get some more colors of thread so I can do some more, including a couple of t-shirts for myself.

King of Pops

Scoutmob sent me an email today that had a link for this video about the creation of King of Pops in Atlanta.  I thought this was pretty cool and decided to share.

Lily Overload

Log Stove and Tasty Pear Bread

Clay found this idea on his outdoor trader forum and decided to give it a try this weekend.  Eric came down to hang out and they got to work making it happen.

I was trying to stay out of the way I just was the waitress bringing things in and out of the kitchen.

I love the way a house looks so cozy and welcoming at night with the lights on inside!

Initially it had a hard time getting going but after it started they were good to go.

Lily was in charge of supervising the menfolk while they worked.

I made 2 loaves today, the one on the left is banana, apple, cinnamon, pecan and the one on the right is banana, pear, cardamom, and almond.

I liked the pear one better.  The recipes are as follows and the baking/mixing instructions are the same for both and listed at the bottom:

Apple Cinnamon Bread
DRY
1.5 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1tbsp cinnamon
1/4-1/2 cup pecans

WET
2.5 very ripe bananas smashed
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup coconut oil
2 eggs
1 apple finely chopped

Pear Cardamom Bread
DRY
1.5 cups sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
1tbsp cardamom
1tsp cinnamon
1/4-1/2 cup slivered almonds

WET
2.5 very ripe bananas smashed
1 tbsp vanilla extract
1/3 cup coconut oil
2 eggs
1 ripe pear finely chopped

Combine wet and dry ingredients separately in different bowls, add dry to wet ingredients slowly mixing in. Then pour into greased (or pam sprayed) 9 inch bread loaf pans.  Cook at 350 degrees for 45-55 minutes until firm.

Beautiful Day!

Lily has got the cutest yawns.  Her giant tongue sticks way out and is pointy.  I wish I could get a good picture of it, I have never seen a tongue quite like it.

She was just hanging out with her dad this morning while we watched tv and the sun was glowing in.

While I was cooking the two pups decided to be nice to one another.  Killer did not even protest to being Lily's pillow.  They both like lying on the cushy foam rugs in the kitchen anyway but I like it that they were cuddling up to one another.

Meanwhile today I collected my couponing stuff and went to the grocery store with Clay and Eric when he arrived and I please myself by saving $60 and only using coupons on items that we would have purchased anyway.  I may have created a monster.

I was also feeling crafty so I started embroidering the onsies that I got for Allyson and Bekie's babies.  This was a lot of fun.  I just free-handed some little drawings on the onsie started sewing.

I was really please with the final product, I can't wait to start on the next oneThe crafting bug always gets me in the mood to start all kinds of projects so next off was baking.  I have 2 banana breads in the oven right now.
1. Pear, banana, cardamom, almond  2. Apple, banana, pecan, cinnamon.
If either turns out well I will post the recipes later.  No point in typing it up now it they are duds.  Which is possible since they were experiments.
