Clay, Lindsay, and I went up to Atlanta last night for the Phillip Phillips concert at KSU stadium. First we went to eat Ethiopian at Desta. Delicious! We had thought that the rain was done but it stayed overcast and kept cooling off. The stage was set up in the middle of the field with lawn seating in front and we had general admission seats in the stadium. Needless to say it would have been a little more enjoyable inside. Luckily we ran by Wal-mart and picked up ponchos and got Lindsay a sweatshirt. It was drizzly at first and then just COLD and windy. We almost watched the beer tent get blown away.
The show was good. Clay was disappointed that Phillips got "Dave Matthews'd up" with a lot of saxophone added to his music. It was different than what I had expected but I thought it was good. I agree that the sax was a little much, a little Kenny G-esque and kinda cheesy though. There were a few ad lib jams with the guitars/percussion that were pretty awesome though. The concert reminded me a little of some Jonny Lang concerts I have been to.
We were all smiles and ponchos. Unfortunately my janky droid deleted the picture I took of the menacing clouds and of me and Clay.
