More on Do Life Atlanta

Here we are all hot and super sweaty after the run.

Pre-run still all hot and super sweaty thanks to good ol' ATL heat!

Was up watching the news this morning when I heard the beginning of the news story on the Do Life event. We saw the camera and them interviewing Ben during the run but didn't figure it would actually make the news on television. So glad he is getting this kind of coverage. I hope the meets keep getting bigger and bigger!

Do Life Atlanta

So, as you can see I made it to the Do Life 5k in ATL. It was really an inspiring thing that Ben Davis has started and I was pleased at the turn out. Our parade almost got rained on when the security detail from Centennial Park showed up and stated that we had to have a permit to gather. Luckily, his supervisor that came still allowed us to continue with the run. We did 5 times around the park and thanks to the security issue we didn't get started until closer to 11am and boy was it HOT. Latoya and I made a small detour on our next to last lap and ran through the kiddie fountain to cool off.

Our group getting ready for our photo op just prior to the run.

Latoya and myself with Ben Davis, the genius behind the Do Life movement. What an inspiring guy! Check out his website if you haven't already!!

Spontaneous 5k Sunday?

Was reading Caitlin's blog, HTP this morning after work and watched a very inspiring video.

I followed the video to the Do Life website, i noticed that Atlanta's 5k is this weekend, and I just happened to be off and headed that way anyway. Meant to be?? I thought so. So unless something crazy happens I think I will be joining the Do Life crew in Centennial Park Sunday at 10:15 for a little exercise.

Strawberry Overnight Oats

ALVIN! Back off my oats.

Love this awesomely cute and stumpy mason jar.

Good Morning Sunshine! Hoping for some rain later today to help me sleep = )

In the mix: the bottom of a jar of strawberry preserves, oats, almond milk, chia seeds, pecans.

Bee Productive

We stole a little honey from our busy bees today. They decided to build comb onto the inside of the cover and it had to be scraped off so we got a tasty snack. Otherwise the hive looked really good, no queen cells, no signs of hive beetles or wax moths, and lots and lots of brood.

We added a medium super to the hive since there was only 1 1/2 frames not drawn out. We also changed the entrance reducer because it only had the inch opening and there was too much activity for that.

Yummy Yummy breakfast! Frosted maple mini wheats, whole grain "raisin bran" imitation, Chobani vanilla yogurt, chia seeds, sunflower seeds, carob chips, and a little sunflower seed butter. I love to have variety in every bite!

I also love my fiesta dishware! I also made my longest trek here, I walked 2.5 miles out and ran almost all of it back for a total of 5 miles. Averaged 12mph. AWESOME!

Can You Dig It?

Got some figs growing on my little fig tree. Can't wait to have some of these wrapped in bacon and baked. Yummy! In hindsight, maybe I should have named this post diggin and figgin. = )

So HOT!! Finished at the gym this AM. Ran my fastest mile ever 9:50. Getting better little by little.

Here is Chico all happy and excited about the giant hole he dug into the orange clay in the backyard. I discussed with him that this is a no-no and then his happy face turned sheepish. Can't figure out what made him decide that he wanted to dig out this week. Chico has been with us for 7 years and has never been a digger.

Friend for a Day

Strangest thing happened earlier this week, when I got home Monday afternoon, the dogs accidentally got out. I searched up the road for them and found them in a neighbor's yard. Little Killer had found a friend. "Buddy" as I called him had been hanging around the neighbor's for several days and didn't have a collar. Clay and I had just been talking about maybe getting a big dog so I wondered if he was meant to be ours. I brought him home and he chilled out in the house with us all afternoon. He got along great with Chico and Killer and had a super sweet personality. I was getting to think that he was going to fit in well with our household. Later that afternoon I had to run to town and I put him out back in the 6 foot privacy fence until I got home since I wasn't sure if he was house trained. When I got home he was gone. I thought maybe somehow he squeezed through the doggie door so I looked all around the house but he was nowhere to be found. I kept thinking that he might show up again over the next few days, but it is as if he disappeared into thin air. Who knows where Buddy is now, but we all had a fun afternoon playing with the big teddy bear of dog though.

Just Finished a Fun Book!

This is book number 2 in the Bernie and Chet series. These books are narrated by Chet, who is Bernie's dog and the other member of the Little Detective agency. If you like dogs, or if you are like me and love dogs, you will like these books. The personality that Quinn gives Chet is so authentic and so endearing he will win your heart over! I flew threw this book, what a fun read.
