Handwriting

Ok, so I am lazy, I had rotated this image on my phone but for whatever reason it didn't carry over when I uploaded the blog and I am not fixing it.  Sarah had posted this on her blog and so here goes.  I have been in training this week for my new position at work.  We got our giant 3 inch binders full of material to learn.  I think I will enjoy this new job and I am excited about learning something new but all of us are anxious about the amount that there is to learn and the fact that we only have 2 hours of hands-on practice.

Pickle juice popsicle

Found these dill pickle juice popsicles at Wal-Mart tonight.  I had to call Sarah, my sister, and show them to her.  Once upon a time when we were kids I thought I was smart and made a batch of pickle juice popsicles and gave her one thinking I was playing a great joke on her, until she actually liked it.  The joke was on me.

Nice kind of day!

I was feeling lazy this morning since I had a surprise day off and I was busy talking myself out of working out but I read one of my favorite blogs, RunEatRepeat and somehow got the energy to head out for a run. I did a very sweaty (thanks humidity) 4 miles and was really craving a smoothie so I made a giant green monster.

In the mix:

1 cut up frozen banana, 1 cup frozen peaches, 2 cups raw spinach, a handful of ice cubes, 2/3 cup coconut milk, water for consistency, 1 pack truvia.

Yesterday was super lazy for us both. We took a nap and when we got up the power went out (first time in 4 years) so instead of cooking as planned we met Stacie for Mexican.  Our plans of movie rental and watching were also thwarted since the Redbox didn't work and our power was out anyway.  We came home and lit candles and read for an hour or so then the power came back on.  We finished up the Hatfields and McCoys on DVR and I finally finished my book, The Fall.

We had a busy Saturday, Clay picked me up from work that morning, we grabbed breakfast at Waffle House and then headed down to the river in Macon to get picked up by the shuttle for a 2 hour kayak trip.  The group we were with was a church group picking up trash and so the 2 hour trip ended up taking almost 4 hours.  It was very enjoyable but we were not prepared, no sunscreen and no snacks.  Clay really loved the kayak he was trying out so we got it after we were done.  I can't wait to start kayaking!  We were crazy hungry by the time we got finished but I wanted to see the pups at Petsmart before they were gone for the day so we headed over there for a few, then we continued to run errands and made it home just in time to get showered and changed before heading to the Tic Toc room for dinner.
We had gotten a Deal Chicken for the Tic Toc room and went there for dinner.  The food was good (especially the lobster bisque) but the waitstaff a little pretentious for my liking.  I love good food and I do not mind paying for it, but I would much rather enjoy it in a comfortable environment than a stuffy, look down your nose establishment.  After dinner we drove around in search of some music or something interesting to do.  We saw a sign at Cheers for cheap crab legs and stopped there to have a pound or two only to find that they were sold out.  I was getting a wee bit tired at this point ( I had been up about 30 hours straight at this point.)  So we called it a night and headed home.

Eddie's Attic

We went to see Scotty Cram last night at Eddie's Attic in Decatur and had a blast.  I lucked up by seeing the post on a friend's Facebook page and got tickets about a month ago.  It ended up being a sold out show.  He is a friend of a couple of my Radio Shack friends from college.  I remember them talking about their friend Scotty and loving to hear him sing.  I finally got to hear him last night years later and I know what they were talking about.  He sings with so much heart and his songs are real and you can definitely relate.
Jeb and Cam were there and it was so good to see them again!  I am so glad we were able to go.

Backyard Goodies

I was so surprised to see these Calla lilies come up several weeks ago, I had completely forgotten that I had planted them.  I went out back to look at everything after the big rainstorm yesterday.  We needed the rain and could use a few more days like that.

Our blueberry bushes are covered with berries, I picked a bunch of them yesterday and will get a lot more tomorrow too.  This is our first good harvest from them after planting them about 4 years ago.

This is my first time growing okra and it seems to be doing well. Killer hates to have her picture taken but she obliged for just one shot, then she ran inside to hide, or to chase the cat...

My gardenia is loving where it is planted and is covered up with blooms.  I only had 1 squash so far and I cooked it up with the okra and a little bit of bacon.  Yum!

My sister came up before we had to say bye to Chico and got some great photos of Chico.  She did a blog post that included these photos and I haven't been able to look at it until today.  It was so sweet and really touched my heart, thanks Sarah!

Trail Run

I completed my first trail run this weekend.  It was a really enjoyable race.  There were about 220 total participants.  The weather could not have been more perfect, a high of 82 on the first day of June is fantastic.  It was a 15k race through Dauset Trails.
The day was perfect and the time went by quickly under the cover of the trees.  There were water stations about every 2 miles.  I felt like I was flying along but I took 1:55 to finish.  I am not disappointed though  because all the hills were much tougher than running on road.  My endomondo on my phone was off, not picking up well in the trees because it said I averaged about 14 min/mile but the chip time was an average of 12:26.

Courtney and I walked the first mile then started running, I think I passed about 18 people after running.

I was going so fast during the end that Clay could only get my foot as I ran through the finish.
